From concept to the room
This built-in project combines shelves of different heights around the room. The photograph shows the finished arrangement in place.
Leave the edges visible
After applying the edge banding, I decided to keep the wood visible as a contrast to the dark surfaces. It became part of the final look rather than something to cover.
Building for the room
I designed and built these shelves for the room they were going into, including the changes in height and the fitted layout. The dark faces and natural wood edges came from a finishing decision I made during the build. Once I saw the edge banding against the darker surfaces, I kept the wood visible instead of covering it. The finished photo shows the shelving as part of the room rather than a separate piece pushed into place.
