Work around what is curing
After a resin pour, I wanted to avoid making dust in the same shop the next day. I moved to the garage and worked on a different project: repurposing timber from an old TV stand.
The base and hardware
I used 1 1/4-inch black pipe for the base, stainless hardware, and some quick-set epoxy for reinforcement. The simple black base kept the focus on the reclaimed Douglas-fir top.
The material had another use left
The finished bench was added to inventory and offered for sale. The story combines reuse, a simple material palette, and choosing a job that could progress while another project cured.
Giving the Douglas fir another job
The top started as Douglas fir from an old TV stand. I reused it for a bench while another project was curing, then built a straightforward base from 1 1/4-inch black pipe. Stainless hardware and some quick-set epoxy helped with the assembly and reinforcement. The black base kept the focus on the reclaimed top. This project is a good example of looking at material already in the shop and finding a practical next use for it.
