Furniture & tables Personal project

A new life for old birch slats

Found birch slats became a curved, resin-filled tabletop. A small experiment in a cleaner, more modern shape.

Start with what is there

A box of short birch slats suggested this tabletop. Arranging the slats into a changing profile made the edge part of the design.

Wood and negative space

Resin fills the area beside the slats, letting the outline remain visible. The archive photographs show the components, clamping, and tabletop detail.

Credits & project notes

Design and making: Michael Pytlowany.

The collection shows tabletop fabrication and detail, not an independently documented completed furniture handoff.
