Repair the failure, not the whole wardrobe

One cracked plastic fitting interrupted the usefulness of an otherwise existing assembly. I reverse-engineered the damaged part in Fusion and printed a replacement in PETG. The scope was deliberately narrow: restore the connection rather than replace or redesign the entire rolling wardrobe.

The interface is the design problem

The existing rails determine what the replacement has to meet. This is why a small repair can contain substantial design work: the new component has to relate to parts that are already there. The important geometry is not a free-standing shape; it is a set of mating interfaces.

The photographs pair the damaged original with the installed purple replacement. That comparison makes the contribution legible without confusing the existing commercial product with the part I made.

A different response to a broken part

The change is practical. Instead of treating the failure as the end of the system, the project isolates the failed component and gives it another route to replacement. It is an example of using CAD and printing in service of repair rather than printing something simply because a printer is available.

The installed photograph is the result recorded here. It demonstrates the replacement at the connection, while leaving quantified load capacity and long-term service life unclaimed.
