Carving the Michigan relief

I used the CNC to carve the Michigan topography into cherry, then cleaned up details by hand with a rotary tool. The state outline is familiar, but the relief depends on the surface changing across it rather than staying as a flat silhouette. After the machining and touch-up, I applied oil to bring out the cherry. This was an early CNC project and a useful lesson in what still needs hand work after the machine stops.
